2020 went down in history as a challenge, not just for our congregation, but for our entire planet as we were plunged into a worldwide pandemic when COVID-19 took hold. The pandemic meant shutting the physical doors of our building and migrating our services, programming, and information online through our website, social media and Zoom. Being digitally connected became not only emphasized, but a necessity in the face of the pandemic, as we learned to creatively maintain Ohef Sholom Temple’s congregational community online. Our social media platforms were instrumental in reaching our congregants, as well as digitally distributing our monthly publication for everyone to stay updated on all Temple-related news. My goal for Bulletin designs in 2020 was to visually provide congregants with a sustainable connection to their Temple and community, offering content of hope, faith, love, and the semblance of comforting familiarity in a world turned upside down.
