Queen Esther of Persia. Rosie the Riveter of World War II America. These are two women whose images exemplify strength in the face of uncertainty, grace under fire, and courage through adversity. By telling the story of Esther (“The Whole Megillah”) every year during the Purim celebration, we are reminded of the impact that one woman’s brave deeds can have on an entire culture and civilization. The image of Esther presented in the style of Rosie the Riveter was a pre-requisite for the client’s design. It was my job to come up with surrounding imagery to compliment this style, so a 1940s polka dot pattern with red, white, and blue accents and a neutral background was chosen to complete the look of the publicity.
