2019 Roaring 20s Holiday Card

The end of 2019 marked the beginning of this century’s “Roaring 20s” and in true art deco fashion, I was tasked with creating a personalized holiday card for my client that had a “Roaring 20s” feel to it that welcomed everyone into the new decade. The family wanted to highlight many of the modern conventions held in the 1920s that still resonate with each member in the 2020s. I featured each family member in a grainy, sepia-toned, “talkie” film-style alongside the trait they identified with most. This card was also a custom cut and fold, where there are two folds – one on each outside edge of the card – with the flaps folding in on itself to create a cover that opens from the center. This layout provided me with a welcome change from designing the usual, standard, half-fold card, and I had to get the design and cuts just right to make them line up perfectly on the cover.
